FRONT SEAT BELTS FOR EARLY TWO DOOR

Post by Jimmysgolf »

Help please---does anyone know the correct way to fit the seat belt shoulder attachment to my 1963 two door Minor, the door pillars are quite skinny and rounded on the inner side, I don't want to fit to the area below the back window as seems the norm because this would create a downforce in an accident and also, the strap would tend to slide off the shoulder in normal use.
I probably would not bother to fit them if my wotk did not involve health care where I meet many accident victims---this tends to make one realize how fragile we are.
All help gratefully received. Club cd currently unavailable, could anyone send the relevant section.
Thanks guys.
Simon.

The area under the window is pretty much the only place to locate them on the two doors I believe (not that I'm an expert having never had one)

You could make (or find a belt that already has) a 'stalk' so you can bolt it in the same place as Steve has but the belt would hang lower to make it more comfy.

Something like in the rear seat of this Volvo 480 (look in the top left-hand corner of this pic): http://www.ludusbergomensis.org/users/c ... sedili.jpg

Thats where Phoebes front belts are mounted Steve and I'm lucky I have an exemption certificate as it rubs the heck outta my neck :o I only put it on if I'm on a long run or using a faster road or motorway.

Chris the hanging loop is a great idea, I wonder what makes of cars had them apatr from the Volvo :-?
