Morris cry out
Hi there i just bought myself a morris which was going to be scraped, i couldn't let it be destroyed. It desperately need repray and many other bits and bobs done to it. Can anybosy recommend a cheap spray paint garage as i don't have much money... there is no rust in the car. She has won various prizes and i would love to bring her back to life but unfortunately i'm 24 and i'm struggling to find labour in my price range. I would apreciate any help. Thanks very much

Firstly - well donei just bought myself a morris which was going to be scraped, i couldn't let it be destroyed.

As for resprays, if you can get the car through an MOT, then that's most of the battle won. The paint can be done however you wish - even if it is brushpainted it's better than letting the car go to scrap!
For a bargain basement respray the best option is to ask around mates and local car clubs - sometimes you can find someone with DIY spray equipment (and who knows how to use it) who will do it for cash in hand. Most of the labour is in the prep so you can do all the priming, sanding, filling, flattening, resanding, repriming, buying the paint, masking up etc... by yourself in your own time frame then get the other guy to turn up and do the magic in half a day.
Obviously a highly reputable paint shop doing a bare metal spray on your behalf will make the best job, but the price of that is now often more than the price of a concours Minor!

When the car is MOT'd and you've done the prep work and finishing- if you have a relatively dust free garage, its perfectly possible to paint the car yourself using aerosol cans. The correct colours and decent cellulose paint are available (ESM and others). I've re-sprayed several panels on my Traveller- the first four and parts of panels using aerosol cans. Its perfectly possible with time spent and care (and a little practise). The panels I did cane out pretty good.

I sprayed my WHOLE car..., painted the caravan bit with a brush though., took ages....., especially the roof...
used aerosol cans from halfords, they had deals on at the time. money was tight and I wanted her on the road., she looks great though, have a go, it's fun...
