It will just be Fiesta stud pattern.
Studs are either pressed or pushed in - hammer works.

half shafts are one piece - the flange is part of the shaft. Unbroken ones just pull out. Invariably they break at the inner end - so it's diff out to clear the broken bit - and to clear out all the shrapnel.

as above they were just talking about the stud pattern - 4 x108 (ford fiesta / escort / sierra etc).

For the time being i'm going to try and track down some standard half stafts, take em to the local machine shop and cross my fingers they dont break again (after all we'd put about a thousand miles on the car since it was pimped). then i'll look into a longer term solution to go with some powerplant upgrades.

Can I suggest you go to an Escort back axle (from a mark I or II)? Carrie (the K series minor I owned for a while) had one and they are supposed to take a lot of abuse.

Out of interest, just how much heavier is this car? I would have hoped that when they worked on it they took into account the new weight.

I would have found it very strange that the car is so heavy it broke the diff - I would just surmise that the half-shafts just broke in one of those standard sort of ways. of course, I could well be talking out of my rear-end ;)

What springs are on the back? Are they five, seven, or eight leaf?

i would say its a good 100+kg heavier than stock but its also the size of the wheels which doesn't help! No idea how many leaf springs are on the car and its too far away to go out and check! Maybe Ray can tell us! apart how easy is the escort rear axle conversion? does anyone make the conversion parts to buy as a kit or is it a case of fabricating your own?
what about ratios when using stock gearbox, 1100 engine and 17" wheels!

cheers
