Clutch question ..

Post by JustinMinor1000 »

So the seller of some moggie seats (grr grr ..) that I have bought also had a "New Old Stock" Clutch for sale ..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1

As I understand it this is an early type clutch but apparently they are interchangeable .. Can someone confirm or deny this ?

Will this fit on my 1098 rebuild ? If not .. Anyone want to buy a clutch ?

ebay is down at the moment so I can't see it, but if it is the early clutch then you 'can' use it but it's not quite as strong as the later clutch (for loaded hill starts etc...) and will need a different thrust bearing.

where to break down next?

I dont like the look of that pressure plate with all that rust on it it makes me wonder how wet it got when stored.

yes -that's deffo the early type clutch. To be honest I don't think it's worth the hassle due to the need of a different thrust bearing, and might also need the earlier flywheel as well.
