Could anyone advice on how to go about fixing the old style coloured draught excluder rubber without scratching the paintwork?
Looks like the metal parts in it and the fixing clips are purposely manufactured to inflict ugly scraches to the door post.... hopefully i'm wrong......

door rubbers
Unfortunately you are correct. The fixing clips rely on digging into the metal
flange to stop them sliding off again so they are bound to ruin your nice new
paint. I paint the whole flange with Waxoyl after fitting them.

clips
The clips have to be tapped on to the flange which goes around the door opening. the door rubber then pushes over them and latches behind the tiny
teeth on the clips thus preventing the rubber from releasing. The latching
part of the rubbers is very flimsy aluminium and may need sqeezing together
after it has passed over the clips. If you are really loath to fit these original
items it is possible to buy a modern type door rubber which uses no clips at
all but I have no personal experience of how good it is on a Minor.

I have got modern door rubbers. Work quite well. The car is quiet enough, and not draughty (if all windows are closed
)
