REAR BRAKES - ADVICE PLEASE

Post by Dominic »

Hi folks

Please can anyone out there confirm if a small amount of play in the rear wheel cylinder - backplate joint is acceptable? The manuals imply that it is not in fact bolted in place, as is the front, but just slid into a slot. Without dismantling, which I'd rather not do at the moment if it can be helped, I am unsure about this.

Thanks for your help as always!

Hello Dom,

a certain amount of float is not anything to be concerned about.

It has to move Dominic, if fixed the top shoe wouldn't work.

It must move - so it must have free play. If it's stuck then all sorts of brake problems set in !
