13in wheel fitting

Post by Jefftav »

Hi I need some advice.

I purchased 13in wheels and they don't fit over the Marina Caliper on the front wheels. Is it OK to use a spacer to move the wheel out 1/2in so that the wheel can turn without touching the caliper? They fit on the back wheels OK as they have the standard drum set up but would I have to use spacers on the front & rear for wheel alignment?

Would anyone know where I could buy spacers or how I could make them?

Also I have a set of rostyle wheels - because of the style of the wheel there is quite a gap between the Minor hub and the edge of the wheel centre (not the bolt holes they bolt nicely onto the Minor hub). I assume this gap OK to leave???

Thanks in advance, Jeff

Wheels should fit over calipers - I've got 13's on mine and they are fine.
Spacers are readily available, but only fit as narrow as you can get away with, and preferably use the ones that use longer studs and not stud extensions.
Speed Shack sells them (great service and very knowledgeable):

If it was me I'd use different wheels rather than spacers, however if you go for GOOD QUALITY spacers (not the cheapest ones) you should be ok.
As mentioned by Peete - go as slim as possible. If you need a very wide spacer, (e.g >30mm) then go for a kit with integral studs and close fitting centrebore.
