Brake fluid in servo

Hey there,

I have a second hand Lockheed remote servo on the shelf. When I shake it you can hear brake fluid in the drum. I don’t think this is normal. Has anyone had this experience before ?

It means the servo is knackered! Mate was getting white smoke puffs from his MGB + losing brake fluid. Told him to look inside servo and found the missing fluid. Removed servo - brakes just as good as before.
Good news is - you don't need a servo on a small car like a Minor!

I now that in normal conditions the servo is not really necessary. In this case I’m towing a small caravan in combination with a 1275 engine. Sometimes its better to have some reserve in the brakes. That’s why I’m thinking about a disk conversion. I need the servo then anyway.

as bmcecosse says the sevo is knackered. You can get repair kits but it depends what is wrong, take it apart and have a look.

There is no reason why you would definitely need a servo just because you are fitting disk brakes. I have disk brakes and I don't have a servo because it locks the brakes up to easily. Its a personal choice, just don't get pushed into buying one just because you have disk brakes.
