Moggy Headlights

I recently ordered a new headlight unit (BPF type)for my Minor as it had started to rust through on the inside. When I got the part from ESM there was no hole for the sidelight bulb to slot into......no problem as I simply drilled one and filed it to the correct size....but are these light units available with the hole pre-cut or is this the only factory pattern now?

you may have ordered the one for seperate side light cars, im not sure if they do one for headlights with a pilot light, but I would have thought so.

yes they do, i have a pair going spare

AFAIK, the Minor never came with a side light built into the headlamp unit. You'd need a Mini headlamp for that, I think. I may be wrong - I'm not very familiar with the earlier cars, but I think I'm right.

and yes i think it was only minis and mg`s that had the pilot light, although onne has some on his

The lowlight headlamps had a pilot light, but I didn't think you could get these now!

All other 'highlight' Minors had separate sidelights and therefore no 'hole' for the pilot light.

You can still get headlight units for the MM, not originals, but fittable replacements, which might even come with sidelights, although those won't be nearly as funky as the original!

Hope you put some paint round the hole you drilled - or it will rust again in no time.
