steering rack vs gearbox seal

Hi could anyone pl advice on the correct gap between the steering rack outer pipe and the upper gearbox rubber seal?

In my case they seem to be touching but no unusual vibration is evident when the engine is running.

this seal is missing on most cars anyway, so if the seal gets worn I guess it's not a major issue.

Probably the engine would get worn before the seal does! Tanx
