The rain got me out of gardening so I have spent the day stripping down an engine I had in the garage. I think it is a Marina 1275 but dont know for sure.
Can anyone identify it from the engine number
It is 12V EH 483*** and the head has 29L and 120840 cast on it.
Thanks for any help

The Midget 1275 engine had its oil filter in the same position as a Minor 1000.

Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
To get bearings you need to check the old ones - are they oversize (to suit undersize crank) - they will be marked STD on the back or 010 or 020 depending on the oversize. Also - do the mains shells ALL have grooves in them (down the centre) or only the ones in the block, the others in the mains caps may be plain with no groove. Of course - only worth fitting shells if the crank is not worn - best to measure it. For rings - again you need to know if oversize required - tops of pistons will be marked with STD or oversize. And note if there are 3 rings - or 4 . Be sure to get a new oil pump. And inspect the cam followers - even if not fitting a better camshaft (which i strongly urge you to do!) - if the followers have any 'pits' on the base - throw them away!
