Differential & axle

Post by FrankM83 »

Hi all, I have a question regarding rear axle and differentials, I am about to paint the rear axle on my van but first I want to know what parts you usually change in a restoaration, the differential itself is good but maybe u change any seals or anything else? anyone has some list? thanks

Possibly the rear oil seals, which would be accessed through the brakedums. So not affecting any fresh paint. Dont think I would change pinion seal unless it was actually leaking.

Hi Thanks for all the info, well the axle looks just full of dirt and chipped paint with only a tiny bit of oil at the top so I think I'll just leave it as it is tidy it a bit up and paint it, actually its not that I have much time but I'm doing everything slowly hehe cheers :)
