Re: Winter
We've got all of half-an-inch and it's just started again and the gritter has recently gone past - which usually means the sun will come out and every vehicle in use will go rusty - must spray another coat of waste oil under the Moggie.................

Re: Tyre advice needed
Mr Wilsons experience is similar to mine - except that 95% of my mileage over slightly more years has been in moggies of one sort or another. Close inspection of Russ's wheels (picture above on 28th Feb) indicates that he is about to take a certain amount of risk running without tubes. The type of w...

Re: SILVER WHEEL PAINT
Please be careful if using a clear laquer over paint that it is compatible - I made the mistake and the laquer all peeled off after about two years - now I have a rat-look van.....

As far as quality of steel was concerned, I can remember a very respected restorer telling me years ago that up to 1963 the British motor industry had used (as he put it) "Virgin Steel" - i.e. new, freshly smelted steel - for all structural and body panels - from 1964 there was a percentag...

Re: Where does one stand...?
They are all the same, Chris. If there is paint on the neighbour's car which matches your vehicle then you've got her (get an independent witness though) but otherwise its your word against hers - and you ain't got much on your side without cctv evidence. Was there much damage?

Re: Engine codes?
You do need to notify DVLA of the change in engine size and if you do not have an engine number they are unlikely to be concerned - but what you do need to do urgently (assuming the car is on the road) is to establish if there have been any other mods (brakes, diff ratio, suspension etc) and tell yo...

1968 Morris Campervan in "For Sale".........
If you've a few minutes to spare, have a look at the ad for the campervan in the "For Sale" bit, click on the ebay link and then on the "original advert" link and have a read about this fascinating conversion (it would appear to still be for sale having failed to make its reserve...

Re: Classic car snobbery
Nearly all bikers do a sideways nod at each other. But (usually) NOT riders of Harly's or younger people on 125s. Them seems to be the rules. Harley owners generally acknowledge other Harley riders - and 125 riders have yet to learn to acknowledge other bike riders. With Harleys, the acknowledgemen...

Now they can even insist on you having head-restraints on the examiner's seat so Moggies would have to have a replacement!

Re: Advice on buying a Convertible please.
Ey up! You've now got three pages of mainly good to excellent advice and if you haven't yet made contact with one of your local branches, then DO SO! I looked at about twenty convertibles before I bought mine back in the 1980's and kept it for25 years. I spent more time underneath with a little plas...

Re: Insurance for a Modern. NCB question.
Shop around and I am sure you will find an answer - have you tried the relative's insurer? The Co-op gave me NCB on a van some years ago on PROOF that I had had a claims-free run for lots of years (I needed commercial cover and at that time the FJ policy would only cover social and domestic) - they ...
