Re: Rear nearside Traveller sliding glass needed

So looks like yours might be a partial 'frankencar' unless the lowest colour other than the red primer is grey.....I think the dark grey would have been Clarendon Grey around 1953/54

Re: Fitting seal between cab and back roof traveller

You wont be able to fit the two vertical woodscrews each side if the rail has already been nailed to the roof aly panel. Theres a steel angle bracket each side that bolts to the 'front roof spar' then fixes to the rest of the frame with woodscrews. Part number is AFA544 and AFA545 which are shown on...

Re: rear hinge holes in new wood

The factory plans say 4 holes 17/64" Dia - Drill after body frame assembly to suit door hinge location.

The holes and locations in the LH and RH doors are shown on the factory drawings
This one and the assembly drawing etc which show the bolts/hinges in section:-

The factory timber drawings show all the sealant types and locations.

These drawings can be found on line or for a small charge

Re: mysterious groan

Agree with Phils observations

Also could be cracks in the chassis legs around the eyebolt mounting hole.

Cracks here are suprisingly common and often give a creaking sound when stressed.

Re: Split screen chrome trim fitting

The instructions in the manual and in the Mono Construction book say to insert a string in the groove before fitting the screen and to press in the chrome trim after the windscreen is in place. You are instructed to press it in as the string is pulled out..presumably allowing the slot in the rubber ...

The fixings were expanding type (like a rawl bolt for timber) and will have rusted solid. If you are lucky enough to be able to remove the original bolts you can drill the steel insert out... I fitted 1/4" thread brass inserts in mine. These ones fit in a 10mm Dia hole. Taupe Traveller wing fix...

My speedo reads way over reality
If thats the case changing the speedo TPM by 2.5% will make no noticable difference?

How much faster is it showing than the speed you are actually achieving?

How accurate is the recorded mileage against an accurate measured mile?

Re: Are ethanol levels increasing in Esso super unleaded?

Quite honestly, so what. There is too much ignorance of fuel history; Ethanol was mixed in fuel for nearly a century and nobody batted an eyelid. In the 1920s and 30s, Ethanol was used as an octane booster as was lead and other substances. If like me you are running a vintage motorcycle with...
