Handbrake thru bodywork?

Hi, can anyone help? I would like to replace the two pieces of Fibre board that protect the bodywork from the hand brake cable. There are two metal covers that shield each cable as it exits the bodywork, and also a piece of fibreous material about an inch wide and two inches long. I have looked on t...

Fuel tank

Should there be any form of sealant between the petrol tank and the body of the car? I know 'Dum Dum' was used for the timber and panels on the traveller, would this have been used?

I recently used the Vintage Paint Company mentioned in this thread, they give an excellent service and were very helpful on the phone. They will supply cellulose in copious amounts for a full respray....

Hi Moray

Measurements are 27mm x 85mm, Length 990mm at shortest point and 1015mm at longest point, as the timber angles at the ends.

Good luck :D

"There's no way to get the car level and straight, would be a shame to do loads of welding and realise the body has twisted" I agree that your mounting points have to be sound before attempting to fit a jig, but there are ways and means to keep a chassis straight and prevent twisting. Once...

Our 'Chassis Tilter' came from NBN back in '95, it does allow you to fit it to most cars that have some sort of bumber mount. You can fit it to the car with wheels on and then jack it up on the screw threads to the desired height and turn to any angle. It's excellent for welding and stripping the pa...

This is how it used to look!! Amazing what was hidden underneath!! The wife can't moan too much, she was the one using it for work and returned home and said 'there's a funny noise coming from the rear' the car not hers, the leaf spring mounting had disappeared under the rear seat. OOps! http://i279...

As promised here is a picture of the underside of our morris traveller, if you look carefully around the rear of the propshaft tunnel and the area around the axle you can see the black paint and it is original. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk130/DCatling/Morryunderside.jpg Hope this is of some...

Sounds like you need a prod in the right direction too... As my wife told me, 'it's been sitting there too long, fix it or get rid of it', seems to have had the desired effect, now she can't keep me out of the garage!!

Advantages of a rollover jig

Hi just wanted to post a pic of my morris on the roll over jig. I'd just finished prepping the underside ready to remove the rear valence, which was replaced about 16 years ago when we did the timber, this time I had more room and time to complete it. Mind you the car has been off the road since '95...

I would like to keep the car as original as possible so using the PO van boxes is unfortunately not the road i want to take. What about Newton Commercial, I know they do most internal trim?

No it wasn't, I have all the history with the vehicle including the original service book and registration of sale from BMC. The dealer was Wadhams Ltd of Aldershot and was sold to a local gentleman. I have only recently started to strip the underside to prepare for painting and should have some pic...

Okay, thanks for the advice. We used Steve Foreman when we replaced the timber back in 1992, it still looks great and it fitted properly.

I still have the rear section of roof mounted on the timber frame which is not fixed to the vehicle at present, so it sounds like it would be better to spray both sections seperately and then fit together with a new seal?

Spraying a traveller roof

Will be spraying my traveller soon with Cellulose paint, can anyone tell me if the jointing strip between the two sections of roof should be sprayed as well? The car was originally sprayed in Almond Green, but not well with micro blisters all over and the original rubber strip was sort of sprayed if...

The actual factory finish was body colour.
My 1969 Traveller in Almond Green had a smooth black finish, where it hadn't been tampered with, this was very easy to see once all the oil had been removed from around the rear axle.
