i will be there on sunday but have never been to a big rally before. What is the proceedure, book in advance and then just wing it on arrival or is more arranged than that? Booking in advance is a bit cheaper (£12.50 vs. £15.00 on the day) and then it's just do what instructed when you get there re...

half shaft tab washer
Novice question here, but would prefer to ask before causing damage and ending up carless until I can get parts. So, it appears I need to replace the rear wheel bearings and oil seals on Jasper. Getting down to the nut was unproblematic if oily (brake shoes are also going to be replaced once I've so...

Breather was quite gunky, though not blocked completely. There isn't any smoke coming out when the oil filler cap is removed, which is positive, and even when revved hard the fumes from the exhaust turn mid/lightish-grey. Will stock up on oil and head on - fingers crossed - and then move sorting the...

This is already a replacement filler cap - was originally a plastic one, this is the metal one (MMC Bath part number 8M221). Am wondering whether the breathers in the crankcase need clearing - the Haynes manual isn't providing much info about how to do this though, can anyone point me in the right d...

Oil consumption and popping
The good news is that Jasper managed a steady 55-60mph for 2 hours down the M5 today to Bristol. The bad news is how much oil has been used - a good litre and a half over about 100 miles. There's a smallish leak from the back of the engine (pending), but I'm wondering if the engine is burning oil as...

Screws on brake drums
Can anyone tell me what size the 2 screws on the rear brake drums are, please? Will the usual Minor parts places stock them? Turns out they're missing on my Minor and I'm keen to replace them asap. Incidentally, is there any chance of not having them contributing to oil leaking out of the half shaft...

Robins - interesting, seeing as I was told on two separate occasions in the last month that they wouldn't insure me... I'm wondering what the difference is, seeing as they checked how long I'd held my licence even before they took my postcode. Very sneaky to automatically renew, would also like to k...

New odometer
Hi, The odometer in the speedo unit has seized up good and proper, so am planning on replacing it when the new speedo arrives (repair is the second option as it's more expensive). Does anyone know what the legal position is on starting a new odometer - does it have to be at 0, or can I start it at t...

Similarly, I'm a bit older at 27, but only got my UK driving licence in August and (unsurprisingly) the insurance companies don't recognise my other licence that I've held for 6 years as it's a Kyrgyzstani one, so I thought AON's £490 fully comp with an agreed value of £1500 with on-road parking in ...
