Clutch Grinding Noise

I currently own a 1956 Series 2 Morris, which I drive to work everyday, although lately it has developed a grinding noise whenever the clutch is depressed or the throttle is lightly touch, if I give it a bit of power the grinding goes away. When the clutch is depressed it is quite a seroius grinding...

Half-shafts

I am doing a restoration job on a 1956 2-door saloon morris minor and was recently doing the brakes and ended up taking out the half-shafts, but then later when I tried to put them back in they wouldn't go in, should they just slide in or will I have to take the diff apart?
