Thanks for the info I will bear it in mind. I got three seals from mini spares in the end and fitted them today. I remounted the pump on its side and more securely and the problem is solved. If I have any further trouble with it I will get the replacement.

Ok I think I will get the seals for now and keep an eye out for a good used minor one at a lower price. It's the same pump that's been on the car for years and has worked well enough until it started leaking! Still not sure about the mount position perhaps I should lower it anyway.
