Cheers Richard, food for thought there.
my engine was running cool with a drilled thermostat in place (one 6mm hole) had to fit a 88 degree undrilled stat to get it up to temp, mind you I'm still running it in, I also have a pump with the larger impeller that's probably be making things cooler.

Thanks Mogwai. I must be getting flow through the head and block front to rear from pump to the heater outlet (that I leave open), it then goes through the heater, then through the heated manifold back to the bottom hose back into the pump again untill the stat opens.

Sounds like you have been running your motor a wee bit to lean Richard, wee bit lean = more power = more heat =requiring more cooling, hense your valve gear suffering. GK the 1.5 should do the job ok as you can adjust the paint flow, maybe even better, especially with the thicker primers.

Great work flying! Well done. When you repaired the door hinge pillars did you tac them on and fit the door to make sure the door fitted ok, I say this because when I repaired mine the door wouldn’t close :-? , doh! I had to move the pillar forward about 3/8th inch.

Not sure really haadesaus, but as the kit contained new hubs machined out of billet complete with bearings, so I’m guessing the moggy hubs are not suitable, the caliper mounting brackets were specially made, as were the backing plates, the hoses are moggy the ford ones too.
