Thanks Winger300, I am intending to retain the 1100 camshaft...Would there be any benefit in fitting the 1275 camshaft. It is still in the engine so I have not compared the cam profile. Does anyone know if an E reg metro would be fitted with an unleaded head. Eng Number 12HD. What car is fitted with...

Heads again I'm afraid

Following on from the recent correspondance regarding unleadeded cylinder heads.... Would a Montego 1.3 12HE head fit onto a morris 1100 block taking into account the cooling water alterations as previously mentioned. Would the head have to be skimmed. Is it the same situation with the possibility o...

I have come across a problem with copper washers fitted to a gas turbine, not fitted to a moggy I may add. Although the washers were brand new from the packet they would not seal gas tight as were too hard and would not compress. This may have been caused by age hardening whilst lying for years in t...

Filling Holes

Hello all,
What is the best way to fill the round holes in the wings left by removal of the mirrors and the badges from the bonnet.

What telescopic shock absorber is used to upgrade the front suspension. I will be fabricating my own mounting brackets.

TIA

Would it be feasible to paint a complete car using spray cans as I have seen 300ml cans in a stock clearance sale at a local motor accessory shop...£2 a can.

Van Rear Springs

My van is not fitted with the rubber pads that are shown on the parts catalogue for the rear springs on the saloon....Should these pads be fitted to the van and what is their purpose?

Hiring a compressor will cost £140 + VAT for one week but I'm still interested to know if the smaller types of compressors are up to the job.

Air Compressors

I am thinking about purchasing a air compressor to do a paint respray. I cannot justify the expence of a large compressor for which may turn out to be a one off job. Has anyone attempted to use the smaller type i.e, 1.5 - 2 h.p with a small F.A.D. and how did it turn out...

Mig Welder

I am using a 130A Mig Mate welder which is great, trouble is I'm going through the small disposable sheilding gas cylinders at a rate of knots. Can anyone recommend which larger cylinder I should to go for and has anyone used pub type CO2 cylinders normally used to push the amber nectar.

I have a minor van fitted with doors from a four door saloon which do not fit flush with the B post where the lock is fitted. The doors fit perfectly with the vertical draught excluder on the B post removed. Is the saloon fitted with thicker excluders than the van, Any advice???? Also can the door w...

Metro Cylinder Head

I would like to convert my 1100cc engine cylinder head for unleaded petrol and have scoured the scrappies unsucessfully for a Metro head after reading an article in the minorsite. I don't think that a Metro 1.1 A series was produced. Would it be possible to fit a 1000 or 1300 head to the 1100 engine...

Van Sills

I am fitting new sills to my van and have bought a sill step , boxing plate and under sill. Does the top of the boxing plate sit level with the top of the sill step creating a double plate which can be seam welded. I have fitted them like this but the floor is now sitting approximately 1/2" abo...
