Re: Fan belt - wrong size?
Could it be May-94 as in the date of manufacture? Blimey, I hope not. It does seem overdue a replacement and looser than it should be, hence why I want to change it. I’m not sure what all the numbers are referring to. I’m pretty sure the car has been stripped down since 1994, although I’ve only own...

Fan belt - wrong size?
I’ve just received a replacement fan belt I ordered, which I believe is the correct size. I’ve ordered 10x825. The car is 1964 1098 with an alternator fitted. However I’ve just had a look at the belt fitted on the car and it says 05-94. I haven’t seen this as a suggested size.

Re: tyre prices
I recently replaced my tyres with a set from Blockley. I’m happy with them so far and the classic tread pattern looks good on the car. Just under £300 for a set of four.

Re: Name of rubber parts on door?
Thank you, I’ve ordered the door grommets. Sadly the peg ring is out of stock.
I was thinking about removing the metal fixings and cleaning the paint off or replacing them but I’m worried that I might struggle to align them again. Is that possible to go wrong?

Name of rubber parts on door?
What is the name of these rubber parts I’ve circled on the door? I’m looking to replace them. I don’t know why they wouldn’t be removed before painting… I’ve looked at the parts diagrams and tried a search on ESM but I can’t seem to find them. Thank you.

Re: MK1 Mini Horn Push
Ah ok, I can see the difference now. I just thought they looked similar with the thicker black plastic surround compared to the later Minor ones. It’s surprising that the Morris Minor ones aren’t more commonly reproduced, so many are faded or cracked and you can get just about everything else!

MK1 Mini Horn Push
Does a MK1 Mini horn push fit the banjo steering wheel? It appears the same.

Finally got this sorted today. Quite a straight forward job in the end. It’s nice when things work out. Thanks to everyone that gave advice.

Re: Boot not locking
Well this is embarrassing… I had replaced the handle exactly as the one I had taken off. I was looking at photos of other cars and noticed mine was upside down. I took the catch off inside the boot lid, spun the handle 180°, replaced the catch and it’s now locking. Maybe that’s all that was wrong wi...

Gear lever gaiter and new carpets
I installed a new carpet set. I’m really struggling with fixing the metal retainer for the gaiter back in place. Is it just a matter of trimming the carpet? Does anyone have any tips?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Horn sounding after lowering steering wheel
It’s a Minor 1000, 1963. There’s a thicker part of the column that has slid down and is leaving the copper ring under the steering wheel exposed. When I slide the thicker part up it causes the horn to sound. I need to source a suitable socket for the steering wheel before I can do anything else. At ...

Boot not locking
My boot handle wasn’t locking, I’ve replaced the handle with a new one this morning. It’s still not locking. I can turn the key as though to lock it but the handle will still turn to allow the boot to open. Am I missing something?

Horn sounding after lowering steering wheel
I was installing a new glovebox liner today. I undid the bracket which holds the steering wheel in place to give me a bit of play to get the glove box in. Part of the column has slid down and every time I slide it back up the horn is sounding. The horn push won’t work now either.

Re: Interior Originality?
Well to the Morris Minor expert it would appear not much of the interior is original. It definitely doesn’t have the original carpets. I have a new carpet set to install that came with the car anyway. The carpet in it now is a bit tired. I received the heritage certificate yesterday. It confirms, as...

I have the pull starter and switches and the light faced speedo.
Looks like an interior change might be in order!
