Re: Moggy for hire?
Hello Deckie, Sorry for the late reply. Not been on here in a while. I've a nice smoke grey Traveller that you'd be welcome to for a couple of days. We'd have to come to an arrangement over insurance and price but I wouldn't be wanting to make money from it really. I'm in Milton Keynes, and this is ...

That's what my wife said. No injuries though and no swearing either. All done.

Re: Stretching seat webbing can't be THIS hard?!!
Actually I'd not had a drink at that point! The wife was in hysterics taking that picture.
As for the heating Nettie, we're fortunate enough to have a wood burner. Not turned the heating on yet this year! But those webbing straps are hot work. Great, but

Leaking Speedo Pinion Oil Seal
I basically have the same issue as the chap in this post: https://board.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=74196 So my old nylon housing was leaking. It isn't possible to remove the original seal from the housing. There's no retainer and the retainer doesn't appear to be available to buy. I've bought a com...

Re: Shredding eye-bolt bushes
Awesome, thanks gents. My arms do not slide easily on the splines so I'll grease those up more next time. I've now done it once both sides so it shouldn't be too tricky. And yes, I made the mistake of knocking the arm off of the splines, found I'd set the height wrong only when reassembled and back ...

Shredding eye-bolt bushes
I fitted new rubber bushes, from ESM, only 1000 miles ago and the eye bolt ones are already destroyed. Planning to fit poly bushes instead but just wondering - am I missing something? Could I have done something wrong when fitting them? I did have to hit the rear wishbone quite hard to get it back i...

Re: Gearbox securing cable
Interesting points, thanks chaps. I have a new cable on order so I'll fit that as you've suggested, and with slack.
Reversing, particularly uphill, can cause the whole car to shake. More revs and more clutch help, but next try is the engine mounts.

Re: Plastic vs Brass Speedo Pinion Housing
No, the threads on all parts are fine but I just thought that brass may be more solid and longer lasting than plastic. I have oil leaking from the housing so ordered a new oil seal from ESM but I have the same issue as the OP from one of your previous replies - I can't get the old seal out. It's a w...

Plastic vs Brass Speedo Pinion Housing
Can somebody please tell me which is best out of the following? Mr TheHill pointed to the nylon one in a previous post and mine is indeed the later engine (1968 Traveller), but 9 times out of 10 I would choose brass over plastic, unless.....? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175342986690?chn=ps&_trkpa...

Gearbox securing cable
While accessing the speedo pinion drive this morning I finished off my gearbox steady cable. It only had a strand left but now it has none. Is it okay to drive the car without this intact? Obviously not forever but just while I sort a replacement. Explains the awful judder I sometimes get when rever...

Re: Where have all the classics gone!
I see quite a few classics around though never Minors and generally only on sunny Sundays. Re the driving in modern traffic though, I think it's about driving style and mindset. I live in Milton Keynes, where most roads are 60, yet I don't have any problems. BUT I'll drive happily between 40 and 50 ...

Re: Selling my Traveller
Cheers Alan, that's a great suggestion and I have thought about doing that. You've had an even tougher time than me! You actually made me feel blessed somehow! I've done the woodwork I suppose and that was my biggest job, but I wouldn't want to be doing the sort of engine work that you've had to. Th...

Re: Selling my Traveller
That is a very good idea, thank you. I did discuss this with Toby today but unless I make him do it he's not up for it! I think that pre-device and pre-internet times were very different as I clearly remember working on a motorbike with my Dad! I'm sure I could engage him though, seriously. Unfortun...

Re: Selling my Traveller
Thanks chaps. I'll miss it, and if I'd bought one privately that had been regularly driven then it might have been a different story. Anyway, we'll see - got to sell it yet!

If anyone knows of somebody who'd like a Moggy Traveller, please send them over to my post in the For Sale section: https://board.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?p=682588#p682588 Apologies for posting here as well but so many of you have been helpful these last few months. Gutted to be selling it, but too...

Re: Almost a new owner
Nice one Philip :) I have no doubt that I'll get a tremendous amount of pleasure driving the old thing once I've got it sorted but until then, I can fully appreciate there will be an abundance of swearing ahead of me. I've just shelled out on a new aluminium radiator, quite a good deal for €99 deli...

Mechanic in Milton Keynes Area
Morning all, the number of jobs that need doing is overwhelming me at the mo and I need somebody who could reduce the list. I’m in the Milton Keynes area and have a good couple of classic car garages, but they’re not free for weeks yet. Can anyone recommend a good classic car mechanic please? Milton...
