I must have the mechanism around the wrong way,because it starts off partially blocking the hole but when i pull the realease it slide into the holefully blocking it and not away from it.

I have abronze faced speedo

Also have the float with the nut connection

I already have 3 wires connected on one terminal and 1 green on the other terminal.

Hi I am still struggling I have tested the fuel gauge float by shorting out the wire to the float onto a good earth; This should have caused the fuel gauge to register full.
