Re: Convertible roof scratching

Thanks for all that, I’ll certainly have to have a good examination of the frame now… another winter job 😀

Convertible roof scratching

Morning guys Just wondering if anyone has a better fix before I try mine?? How do you stop the soft top frame scratching the rear windows??? I know …. Be careful will be a common thought.. :D I’m thinking perhaps lining with the felt side of some Velcro tape!! Anyone else had an epiphany on it??? Ch...

Re: Front brakes

That diagram will be most useful for sure. I'll ask the mrs to stand behind me. So the front and rears are two seperate circuuits ( for want of a better word!!)

Front brakes

Afternoon all I seem to have no front brakes !!! When I noticed slowing down was a little hairy :o I figured it must be a wheel cylinder so bought a new set before even bothering to jack it up. Having done so and stripped things down i dont seem to have a drop of fluid at the front wheels yet the re...

GPS speedometer

Just wondering if anyone uses one of these five quid gps speedos that you see on Temu?? My speedo reads 20mph at 30 and gets worse the faster you get… I seen all the blurb on needing the right speedo for engine gearbox etc and the numbers say my 1955 convertible has a traveller speedo fitted.. Think...

Re: Help timing

Double checked the chain was right dots aligned rotor arm on no4. Replaced cover and belt, lined up the timing narks tdc minus 3 degrees. Static timed the distributor until I got the test light. Put the front back on the car( again !), fired up first time… I was just all confused that the dots line ...

Re: Help timing

Thanks guys . I do have a strobe yes but know its a pain lying underneath to check the marks. So 4 firing when dots align makes more sense, will jiggle it a bit first.
Just wanted to be sure I didnt line anything up wrong when i hit the key. :D

Help timing

Afternoon all, I think I’m going mad. The timing chain was slack and rattling so I upgraded to a new duplex one. Followed all the instructions and lined everything up correctly. When I started the engine it runs like a bag of spanner’s. So I think the timing has been adjusted ( before me ) to make i...

Re: Go on then….

Yes I’d say so. Although I’m guessing it has to be self contained and not wired anywhere as it would render the door useless if there were any connections to the vehicle.

Re: Go on then….

Looking at the hole I don’t thing it was home made unless some owned a steel press. I guess I’m in the market for a badge to fill the hole if it’s not a standard option. That or take the door away altogether.

Go on then….

What goes in here??? I’m thinking maybe some sort of wind up clock. The glove box door still works although I don’t think it’s original on my 1955 convertible. Neither is the engine or speedo either :D

Cheers

I’ll set that as a task for next time. As well as checking the originality of everything. It all looks ok but I haven’t been around as long as the car ( and I’m retired !! )

Re: Daily ... well summer.... use

Sorry for typo 10mph ( it was actually a spellcheck as it just tried to change it again dangnabbit )
As in round the industrial estate it says I’m doing 25 mph when the phone app saying 36mph…
And I know my other car is a 1967 Land Rover but I know it was more than 25

Daily ... well summer.... use

Long time lurker, hitting retirement and wanting to use Meggy more. Got ourselves a place in Norfolk too and have a yearning to take her down there too. Up to now the 55 convertable (built) just lives in the garage except for exceptionally nice days when she gets a run out ( if the weather man even ...
