Re: Octane value in the sixties
Friday 17th March 1967 Star grading of petrol was introduced in the UK based on a British Standard set of octane ratings. Under this system one star was the lowest grade, 2 star was 92 octane, 3 star 95 octane 4 star 98 octane and 5 star 101 octane. The lower end was for the low tuned/low compressio...

Well, although not MM specific, there's this one at Brooklands Museum at which there will certainly be several Moggies (including Myrtle, my own area of responsibility):-

Coincidentally there was an item on last night's BBC News demonstrating the use of A I technology that instantly and in real-time translates speech into whichever language you care to choose - like this:-

Re: Saftek Brake Shoes
Yes, I fitted some when I changed my front brakes to Riley 1.5 nine-inch drums. They do work well enough but the effect isn't as dramatic as I'd hoped. Problem is that, in common with most others I imagine, I'm judging their effectiveness against the servo'd disc set ups on all modern cars and that'...

Re: Ethanol protection for the original Valvemaster Plus?
That said it's actually not all that expensive, for example 500ml of VM (standard) is £38... Mm, seems like you may be buying your Valvemaster from the wrong supplier... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166469924514?itmmeta=01HTA45HW9D0H2182MFKQA8NSM&hash=item26c26176a2:g:6mAAAOSwt4hlaHMI&itmprp=...

Re: Ethanol protection for the original Valvemaster Plus?
Thanks for the reply, can I check, do you mean Castrol branded Valvemaster Plus, or Classic branded Valvemaster Plus (or both?). It's Castrol Valvemaster Plus, bought a number of years ago for use in a previously-owned car, still on the shelf in the garage and tried on the Moggy in a 'what could po...

Hi Tom, when it comes to this fairly contentious subject you could do a lot worse than check out the following website and perhaps phone him for a bit of guidance too:-

Good luck with whatever solution you finally decide on.

[quote I then bought an LED hand help inspection lamp made by Ring which has a magnet on the back too. It’s rechargeable but it cannot be used when plugged in and charging. My jobs usually take far longer than planned so I need a lamp that can be used connected to the mains. It is not unusual for me...
