The mogster doen't seem to mind this too much - certainly was starting and going as well as ever until I noticed...!

What function does the vacuum advance connection actually perform?

Problem

I've got a wire going into the the carburretor that has become disconnected due to the plastic connector having broken. I have attached a photograph showing the problem. What is the purpose of the wire and can I simply buy another connector? Any help gratefully received.<br> http://mmoc.org.uk/mbima...

Looks like the coil has packed in. I've sourced a replacement so hopefully I'll be back on the road in no time!

Wiring Problem

I've just converted from a dynamo to an alternator and now the mog ain't for starting - turns over fine but won't fire. :( I suspect I've wired it up wrong and I'd like to confirm the solenoid connections. I've got a thick brown and thin brown wire from the alternator to the +ve side of the solenoid...
