I have used coke many times as a temporary 'help' with a slipping clutch on racing cars. Assume it works 'cause it's sticky? Matt do you know? Another thing that we used to 'help' with a slipping clutch in racing was a squirt from a fire extinguisher - thou' I did once get in trouble at Donnington f...

Another thing that anyone that has passed the driving test in the last 5/10 years (maybe more?) must remember.

You have passed the test NOT learned to drive.

Learning to drive is a very different matter.

Just me rambeling...... Mac's are very nice, very pretty and do everything a computer should do - just differently. If you want a pretty computer then get an Apple - and pay the price! Firefox - secure, free and better written than IE. Fact. I have to use IE about once a week and do so in Windows (r...

I'm in firefox right now as it happens. Another Popular one is Opera Dan, Thanks forgot about Opera. Have tried it but didn't get on with it. Like I said about Firefox - some love it some hate it! But you are right - web site builders 'should' check that their site works with as many browsers as po...

Fab, If you brought a 'clutch kit' you should have a thrust/release bearing in it. A clutch kit used to contain: Clutch plate, pressure plate & release bearing. But it is a few years since I needed to buy one 8) As someone said (Cam?) changing the clutch on a moggie is a simple job - well compar...

mini chrisis,

Agree with bmc any 'modern' garage will not really be able to help, just charge you a fortune.

Where about are you?

If you are near to Skegness come along I have a Crypton machine and the instruction to work it. Long story but the v6 in my Scimitar now runs on 6 cylinders!

mc,

Make sure you check that it works in other than IE.

Or to put another way - it doesn't work well in Firefox!

Good effort, but needs more!

Don't let me put you off, we need more like you.

Does a gas soldering iron have a metal tip like electric or is it a little flame thrower? I've been using a gas powered kitchen hob ignitor which is like the latter. What a revelation, pull the trigger get a flame. No more electric extension leads out of the window and waiting for heat up in winter...

The ratchet one is truly excellent, makes very good connections! Yes the ratchet type are the only crimpers worth considering. Soldered joints are more reliable. Totally agree and cheaper! Get yourself a gas soldering iron, solder, flux and some heat shrink. Take some time to get used to soldering ...

.......You really should use a new oil pump - and I see Minisport still do the early ones and not expensive at £14.95. Yes fill with oil - some say a mix of oil and grease - just to get suction up. It's always good practice to crank a new engine up (with no plugs) on the starter till the oil pressu...

If you mean that by pulling the choke out the engine ran - then that would indicate a lack of fuel getting into the engine.

Would suggest checking fuel pump first.

Let us know how you get on.

Agree with whats been said about castle nuts - if one is fitted it should have a split pin. Thats why the castle nuts are the shape they are! But a nylock nut will do the same job - just don't re-use it. This link maybe of interest, don't know where I got it from (could have been another thread on h...

Yes would agree - doesn't look to bad if you are only doing short runs. Head gasket failure 'usually' results in: Steam out of the exhaust all the time not just in the morning. Water in the oil which = white oil, very simple to spot and very difficult to miss! Water consumption - check the rad! Steve
