Hiya, re fitting my head this weekend but unsure which way up to put the gasket. One side is copper but there are no "TOP" markings or anything.
Many thanks

seals
So should the seals actually push over the guide or just rest on top? I have fitted new guides but they have no groove (couldn't get any with grooves).

valve guides
Hiya, thought my engine was smoking due to split stem seals but my valves have around 1-2mm play in the guides. Is this too much? Would I need to renew the valves as well and are and special tools needed to remove/fit the guides?
Thanks
Thanks

stem seals
I took the head off to change the stem seals as I havn't got a compressor at home to keep the valves from opening. Could I combine the o ring type with the newer type?

Stem seals
Hi everyone, anyone know the correct type of valve stem seals for a 61 948 and where I can get them? The first type i bought were so tight i split a couple putting them on and the next type were quite loose so after a couple of hours running they've split! Can I get away with using the nearly new he...

Hiya, started my engine for the first time in a couple of days, after changing the timing cover seal, but the fuel pump keeps clicking and fuel is absolutely pouring out of the carb! Anyone any ideas please?

Thanks to everyone for the tips on ignition timing, she started up first turn, I just removed the dizzie drive and put it back in in a different position. Any tips on strobe timing as there is the odd mis-fire. Also, I think i've got the 2 heater pipes the rite way round but not 100% sure (the one t...

Hi everyone, still really struggling with setting my ignition timing from scratch! Doing everything by the book...no.1 piston at TDC on firing stroke, lining the dot up on the crank pulley, the dizzie drive is at the 11 oclocck position with the small offset towards the front of the engine... but th...

Thanks for that, I think i've got everything wired up ok now. Had a go at the timing but i'm not getting a spark at the end of the king lead. Should there be a spark even if the timing is wrong as the points are sparking. Also how is the king lead supposed to stay in the coil, there is a screw devic...

Ignition probs
Hi there. I've recently put my 948 engine back into my 61 morris minor after rebuilding it but having some problems knowing which wires go where. I have the starter motor connected so the engine turns over but is there a way of testing (with a test lamp) what wires go to the dizzie and coil as i am ...
