Re: Indicators/Brake Lights Issue
Well done for fixing the problem and thanks for keeping us informed. It sounds like your car has been modified from standard and this makes it difficult to help with your problem. Bad earths can manifest themselves as all sorts of weird goings on but is a relatively easy fix and is one of the first...

Re: Pair of hands in return for tea and biscuits? West Midlands
Hi, I'm fairly flexible the next week or so as working from home, so could do in the week or the Sunday next week. Just can't do the Saturday.palacebear wrote: ↑Sat Apr 07, 2018 7:59 pm I'm about 5 miles-ish from you. When were you thinking of doing the job?
Thanks for the reply!

Pair of hands in return for tea and biscuits? West Midlands
Hi all, I was wanting to ask a favour. I'm struggling to re-fit both doors by myself. I was hoping someone would be available to come around and lend a pair of hands for a couple of hours? I can provide endless tea/biscuits?
I'm in Stourbridge, West Midlands
Fingers crossed! thanks!

Re: Indicators/Brake Lights Issue - Solved
Solved.
So after rewiring both back light clusters, I was able to track the issue down the the earth connection inside the boot from the left hand side cluster was slightly loose. It seemed the earth was finding its way back through the rear light cable.
But all working, now on separate circuits.

Re: Indicators/Brake Lights Issue
UPDATE I re-wired the indicator system, bypassing the relay indicator and all works well. Now just the break lights. I have power up to the point of the connection when it splits left and right (in the boot). I've bypassed the brake switch. Yet when I do connect the left and right split, neither sid...

Re: Indicators/Brake Lights Issue
After a bit more reading around, I see there's different combinations of set up for indicators/back lights. As I mentioned before, the car had the joint indicator/rear light set up before being updated. But a post from 2016 by charlie_morris_minor mentions his car has been updated to later rear ligh...

Indicators/Brake Lights Issue
Hi all, hoping someone can advise me on an issue I'm having with both indicators and brake lights. I've just completed a semi- restoration where a majority of parts came off, except the engine bay that remained untouched, including wiring The issue(s) are - indicators. I've had these working and fla...

Re: corrosion spots - need advice. Which parts I need?
Although from the above comments, you now have a good idea of what needs doing, I would suggest someone in the know examines your car to determine exactly what repairs are required. Yes, it is disappointing to discover so much rot in a car, but, assuming the rest of the car is in good condition, yo...

Re: corrosion spots - need advice (not another corrosion post!)
Sorry if this isn't what you hoped to hear...I wouldn't be driving it. Don't worry about it. I've resigned myself to having to get it sorted - it was just one of those unexpected expenses thats annoying. I did think they were pretty clean inside though. And I'm surprised nothings been picked ...

Re: corrosion spots - need advice (not another corrosion post!)
Thank you all for the replies, definitely helping me sus out what i've got to do! RobThomas - not sure if those photos make me optimistic or not. Looking at the quality making me want a total restoration I've been working on the moggy this evening so took some photos under the kick plates. Tell me w...

Re: corrosion spots - need advice (not another corrosion post!)
Not wanting to offend anyone but is the welding on that car not a little below par? Some of the joints aren't what I'd want to see on my own. Spot number one looks like a hit-n-miss weld along the seam where the rot has re-started and the pics near the jacking point don't LOOK to have been done wit...

Re: corrosion spots - need advice (not another corrosion post!)
You do need to look at the corrosion in the round. I would get a couple of full surveys of the corrosion and have three quotations for the rectification work. It may well cost in the region of £1000 to get the sills, wheel arch and cross member replaced but it will be money well spent. I would advi...

Re: corrosion spots - need advice (not another corrosion post!)
I have to agree with ManyMinors - the corrosion pictured is severe and should be rectified before submitting the car to another MOT or putting many more miles on the milometer. Only the sill finisher is bolted to the body proper the rest is welded in place. As regards the cross member from the pict...

Re: corrosion spots - need advice (not another corrosion post!)
Thanks for the reply ManyMinors. As is, yes definate failure. I could probably manage a non structural area with my welding skills, but wouldn't trust them for a more important area. Ah disappointed you think they're so bad. I thought aside from the obvious gaping holes the rest, once cleaned up and...

corrosion spots - need advice (not another corrosion post!)
Hi all, been a while since I posted. Quick recap. I got my moggy a couple of years ago now, been driving it till April this year when I decided to carry out a driveway restoration. I have the bodywork looking good and engine, breaks, electrics etc work perfect. The corrosion i've found has generally...

ok - thanks for that. Can I suggest you charge the battery and leave it disconnected all the time you are not working on the car..... Thanks, I took your advice. Took the battery off till this morning. Went back to the challenge after a few days and finally got the engine running. The problem?.... ...

Re: not starting
There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the battery or starter motor, have you tried tipping a little bit of petrol down the carb? If it runs for a few seconds then the problem is fuel related. I think this is why I was struggling. Battery/starter and fuel problem to begin with. I haven't tryi...

I think my lack of terminology is confusing everyone. Can I just point out that this thread starts with the words 'Just a quick one' and the number of posts has gone into the seventies! The suspense is killing me, have you had any progress yet, or even solved this multiple mystery? I now have the en...
