Looking for YAY 800 (1961 Convertible in Old English White)
Hi all,
Anyone know of its whereabouts?
I sold it around 20 years ago. Would love to know how it’s getting on.

Went to visit it this afternoon with my wide but have decided not to proceed. It's a lovely thing but, in the end, not for us. PM me if you'd like more info.firedrake1942 wrote:well if you don't buy it i might well.....

Re: Original Convertibles: Values?
Have you checked chassis number stamped into the bulkhead and body number plate? NEVER buy a convertible on the basis of the info on its chassis plate. You can screw a chassis plate from a convertible to a toaster, doesn't make the toaster a genuine convertible and worth £10k. Annoying as these hoo...

Re: Original Convertibles: Values?
It looks very tidy, wing gap may be a trifle large and the wheels are too white - it may be the photo tho. Speedo looks gold faced . The black faced ones came in in late (October) 1964. Lights and wipers would attest to that. Open glove boxes would say earlier tho i.e. pre October 1964. externally ...

Original Convertibles: Values?
Hi, As some of you may remember, I had a 1968 post-production convertible in Old English White that was written off after catching fire at my local garage. Well, after a dalliance with a TVR, I may be coming back to the fold... I have the opportunity to buy a recently restored, 1964 original (MAT5) ...

Re: Fire! Insurance advice?
Thanks all for your advice. With the settlement (and then some!), I bought this. Not a Morris, I know, but very British… It's the last 450 SEAC that TVR made (number 18 of 18). May well return to the Morris fold - just need to get this V8 exhaust note out of my system! http://i1115.photobucket.com/a...

Revised offer received at the full agreed value.
Option to buy back the remains (for 750 quid) but am not sure this would make economic sense...

Re: Fire! Insurance advice?
The garage's insurer has opened the bidding at half what I believe it to be worth (with reference to other post-production Old English White convertibles for sale and to the agreed value certificate). I've responded with supporting evidence so will see where that gets us...

Fire! Insurance advice?
Hi all, The interior of my lovely 1968 Old English White convertible caught fire during welding at my local garage. I have an agreed valuation (with my insurance company) though I'd done quite a bit of work on it over the past six months. Their loss adjuster has inspected the car and I'm awaiting ne...

Re: MOT failure: binding brakes
Many thanks bmcecosse. But, in a bizarre update…(after my many hours on the top bushes, TRE, front brakes, etc.) I took the car into my local garage for some (significant) welding and, half-way through Day 2, it caught fire. Interior (and soft top) destroyed. Awaiting news following their loss adjus...

Re: MOT failure: binding brakes
Thanks bmcecosse.
Got a Camping Gaz blow torch from Homebase (£29.99 down to £9.99 in their Clearance section!), heated the area up AND hammered on a 12mm socket.
Bingo!
Thanks again for advice. Knowing what to do when you don't know what to do - the definition of intelligence!

Re: MOT failure: binding brakes
Aaargh! The last bolt (1/2-inch) of the last wheel cylinder is seized / wrung / rounded. Penetrating oil overnight didn't do it. I'm assuming the only way to budge it is with HEAT (being careful given the proximity to brake line / fluid). But is there a cheap way into this? Something like this: http...

TRE was the same length as old one. Nearside is OK, but yes - I plan to get the tracking done anyway.

Re: MOT failure: binding brakes
Thanks for the responses. I've added two bleed nipples to the order. Don't want to spoil the broth... I presume, bmcecosse, I just coat the surface of the pistons with the red rubber grease? Last question: does anyone happen to know the sizes of the two nuts holding the cylinders in place? (Must get...

Re: MOT failure: binding brakes
Damn - they've all got o-rings! Think I might junk 'em and replace with these:

The description says that I *may* need the bleed nipple. How do I know whether I do or not?
