Dear both,
Thanks for the reply, I have checked it with a satnav and a tacho and they confirm a very slow speedo, it is on a std axle and wheels and tyres so I guess a new speedo is the answer.
Regards,
Vic.

slow speedo
Dear all,
The speedo on my 71 Traveller under reads by 5-6 mph at 30mph, I have checked it with my satnav and it is consistently at least 5mph behind even at higher speeds, could it be the cable or the speedo itself? I would welcome any advice.

Vic.

Moriarty is back on the road.
Hi all, After 6 months hard work, a pile of cash, yards of sticking plasters and a stay in A&E with angina Moriarty my 1971 Traveller is back on the road. We completed a successful run to the S W Autojumble yesterday. He now has a new rear panel, rear wings, boxing panels and sills, plus I have r...

Timing cover question.
Dear all,
Thanks for your advice with the crankshaft but question, I now discover that the timing cover and chain is from a 1275 although the engine is a 1098 10V. Why would someone change it and should it have the damper pulley rather than the normal Minor pulley?
Regards,
Vic.

Re: Crankshaft nut.
Its off! Hooraylll I cut off the dog, bought a new socket the right size and still it defeated my air gun! So I hunted out a long bit of iron water pipe that fitted a long breaker bar and sat on the end! My investment in the local best bitter paid off and the bolt gave in. Thanks for all the advice. ...

Re: Crankshaft nut.
Thanks guys, I did try the starter method, but mine has brake pipes from the servo across the front rail and I did not want to flatten them. I will let you know how I get on.

Re: Crankshaft nut.
Thanks, but I tried that as well with no success. I have cut off the dog to get a big socket on. Will buy a new socket tomorrow half inch to and try with my air gun.

Crankshaft nut.
Hi all,
I hope to fix a front timing case oil leak, but cannot shift the crank nut, I have the rad and mask out so I can get at it, but it has so far defied every tool in the box. my friend tried yesterday with a 3/4 truck socket set without success!
Any ideas?

Vic.

Re: Newbie with sticky windows.
Dear all, Thanks for the welcome and the advice, the WD40 worked a treat. I am now busy removing a horrible electric fan that stuck out of the grille, so poor Jeffery is in bits while I fit a new grille and at the same time I can fix a timing case oil leak, fit a new thermostat, new hoses and put th...
