Re: sideways engine?
thanks --unfortunately, I don't have much of a basis of comparison, not having owned a Morris previously--30+ mpg? comfortable cruise an 65-70? Wondering about my little trips between NY and FL... Any advantages/disadvantages to RWD v FWD? Should I be joining a different club? Morris Mini v Morris M...

Re: sideways engine?
Yes, that's the one. Are these more susceptible to rot than the Minors? The reserve is 9k, which apparently the market is not sustaining--so what would be a decent price for this one? the more popular ones seem to be those with the larger, dual carb engine? Much of a difference? BTW--any idea about ...

Re: sideways engine?
Yes--it was on Ebay; an pumpkin color "Estate Wagon"? a "Morris Traveler Luxury Edition," according to the listing. So you don't think this the drive train is OEM? It does still have UK plates...

sideways engine?
I 'm considering a 1970 traveler for purchase. The the Morris engine ("Morris" on valve cover) is mounted sideways--even the radiator is on the side, rather than front behind the grill--is this common? how does the radiator get enough air flow? also, I assume this would be a different driv...

Re: test drive inspection etc Q
I've seen a 1970 MM with the engine mounted sideways--does this make a difference, as for as performance, durability, parts, repair costs and expertise, etc? are there disadvantages to this drive train orientation?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: caravan conversions
BTW--if I were to search for one of these caravan versions built on the commercial chassis, what would the search terms be? What models, etc?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: caravan conversions
OK--I see you all are not keen on the idea; if the roof does have a structural function, then I guess that's out. It is interesting, though, that the pre-70 Traveler--or at least the late 60s one I looked at--has a 2-piece roof, with a rubber seal between the cab roof and the rear portion, which see...

Hi All I have become interested in the Traveler. I saw a pic online of a Marina that was converted to a caravan, with popup roof--do you know of anything like that available? One reason I was interested in the traveler was the possibility of converting the rear part of the roof to a popup, and figur...

Re: test drive inspection etc Q
Thanks! They seem to go anywhere from about 3k (close to the pounds 1.5k you mentioned) to around 7-8k here (going at least by "completed listings" on Ebay) depending on condition. I've even seen one bid up to 23k, a dealer vehicle "total" restoration, according to him, but then ...

Re: test drive inspection etc Q
Yes, thanks again--I am in the US; the seller wanted to note he had put in a new WP, which is why I guess he showed me the old part. seller is looking to go somewhere over 5.5k US--so I guess over pounds + 3.5k; I thought if I could get it for 5-5.5k it might be OK? but more, I think not? But again ...

Thanks! No, have not owned a Morris--but I owned an MG Midget briefly yrs ago.. So noise I live with--but what the heck is a tappet breather chest pipe? -- sounds bionic-- and where is it? near the hookah, I guess... Overheating: claims the plastic impeller on the water pump melted (he showed it to ...

test drive inspection etc Q
Hi All I checked out a Traveler I may buy. '68 1098, orig. There were noticeable combustion fumes in the passenger compartment, and a noisy ride, engine-wise, esp at 60 MPH or so--didn't seem like peculiar engine noise, just noisy. Is this unusual, or typical? The exhaust system itself, at least the...
