Re: Opened up the thermostat housing and theres no thermostat
As above but I don't understand not being able to get it into gear, untill it had cooled down :-? How hot had it got if it effected the gearbox/clutch. If its been that hot, allthough I don't see how it could effect gear selection, then you may be faced with a lot more work, than just a new rad. It was...

Re: Opened up the thermostat housing and theres no thermostat
Hi guys, thank you for your advice, the rad isn't as bad as on my other moggy, I have it at home now to flush and back flush through. I have an 82 deg thermostat arriving today, I didn't see a lower one than that, hopefully the thermostat will be okay, when I got the car the heater (Smiths) was disc...

Opened up the thermostat housing and theres no thermostat
My little moggy didn't like the heat over the last couple of weeks, and has overheated twice, coming to a halt with an alarming amount of steam. On the last occasion the over revving sounded like she was in the wrong gear and I couldn't get her in the right one, when she cooled down the gears would ...

Re: Grey paintwork
Hello, did you ever establish the name of your grey? I have a 2 door 15th June 1959 car grey and I cant work out its colour, but it looks similar to yours. Chrissie

Re: Whats members cheapest insurance quote and what company???
We just had a quote of £128 for our latest Moggie, we have three cars between us, and Footman James knew I was a Club member, so we went to Adrian flux for £125 and 5000 miles, fully comp. seemed a bit dear but had to have insurance to pick her up.

Re: Check your bonnet catches!
Hi Guys, are there any photographs of the bonnet catch assembly as it should be? I have a new bonnet catch return spring to fit tomorrow, and I dont know which way round the spring should be. I asume I undo the bolt at each end of bar that sits over the top of the radiator? what about the two bolts ...

Re: Traveller Restoration
Hello, are there any more updates after page 20 please, Its a fantastic resource, seeing how and where the panels fit together, mines a rust bucket and I am about to complete repairs to keep her on the road. Being able to copy your pictures and paste into office word, I can then blow up sections to ...

Re: Boot lock problems
I eventually had to knock out the threaded inserts, if that is what they were, shown in the picture. To put the catch unit back on I fed bolts outwards through the holes, and put the nuts on from the outside. The two small nuts holding the lock on were 3/8 in the end, not sure which series, I have a...

Re: Boot lock problems
I saw somewhere that the two smaller nuts could be 3/8 or 7/16 socket size, I tried a 3/8 but Im not sure it was the right series, it was far too big. I have some old Whitworths and AF sockets that I need to check through, when I find them! I will try plus gas, WD40 didnt work, the four outer screws...

Boot lock problems
Trying to replace my boot lock, the four screws to the door catch had mangled heads, and I could not move them at all, trying to drill them out, the catch is now off but the four stubs are still in the screw holes, unmovable! They seem to be hardened steel, I've tried to get my 8 mm socket on the 2 ...
