What would the reason for someone to do this? It doesn't effect performance etc?

Hi thanks for reply, the cylinder head gasket has gone, the holes I'm referring too have been properly filled in with solid compound not crud so unable to just poke out

I have a Morris minor 1000, I have taken the head off the engine and some of the water holes have been filled in. Does anyone know why this is?
