Re: Where's Roy?
I would like to add my condolences to his family and many many friends. As others have said his knowledge was legendary. He and his comments will be sorely missed.

Re: Canopy/tent/cover for those without a garage?
Hi, A few years back I used a garden polytunnel for my traveller. I would highly recommend this approach. From memory it was 2mt x 3mt with an aluminium frame and a reinforced plastic cover. The main benefits were; I could drive in, it had ventilation, it had a domed roof(no build up of water or sno...

Re: Master Cylinder with Servo Conversion
Simmitc. Thanks for your reply. I am aware of the other elements as my car has discs fitted already just no servo. I was and to a degree still am confused by the term "top hat". There are dozens of references on here to "remove the top hat" when it looks as if I have to remove th...

Master Cylinder with Servo Conversion
I am in the process of fitting a new Master Cylinder with a Servo. I know I have to remove the "Top Hat" but am confused as to which is the actual item. I assume that it is the item shown as "Valve Body" on the attached diagram. Mainly because it looks like a top hat  . I a...

Re: Why I don't like Auto Electrics
It WAS the solenoid. The electrical impulse caused the the solenoid to active but for whatever reason it did not connect to the two main terminals. A new solenoid unit solved the problem instantly. I had previously checked and cleaned all relevant connections particularly earths. This was intended t...

Why I don't like Auto Electrics
I needed to run a single cable through the bulkhead for a temp gauge. Simple job ..yes. Well actually , of course it was. However when I had finished, car wouldn't start. The solenoid was clicking but the starter motor would not turn at all. Obviously (to me) I had disturbed a cable/connection somew...

Re: Brake Upgrade
Thanks guys for the replies, I appreciate it. It's a job I been thinking about for sometime, so will have to try it, to get it out of my system.
No one has mentioned the flange that fits between the carb and manifold. Has anyone tried this method
Cheers

Brake Upgrade
HI all, Its been a while since I posted but I am now planning to upgrade my brakes. My '71 traveller had discs fitted when I got her but without a servo. My plan is to fit a servo, probably one of the kits available, replace the master cylinder, both rear slave cylinders, flexi pipes plus all the pi...

£ Spoke Steering Wheel
Hi, A simple one for all experts out there. Will the old style spoked steering wheel fit a '71 traveller. I assume that the spline number and diameter did not change but would like to be sure.
Cheers

That's not good news. I was planning to try, with it in situ. If I can't they might be up for sale in the near future.

Re: Windscreen Size ??
Thanks guys but this still leaves me with a mystery. If I line up the 'replacement' insert at the bottom , it is a good 20mm higher at the top. Whilst I wouldn't disagree with either of your comments(I wouldn't dare!!) I can't see how it can be that far out? Not major as I can either get plastic rep...

Windscreen Size ??
Hi, Are there different windscreen sizes ? I bought some metal windscreen trim from a '63 two door minor for my '71 Traveller. When originally checked for size I thought it was fine but on closer inspection the replacement trim is about 20mm 'taller' than my original plastic trim. I am currently thi...

Re: Carpet Sets
Thanks for the advice. I was sorely tempted to make my own but decided against it in the end. I blame the weather. Just for info, I sent a pm to the guy who says he can make them to order but got no response.

Carpet Sets
Hi all, I am about to source a new carpet set for my '71 Traveller. Has anyone done this job recently? BM have had a good write up in the past. Is this still the case? NC looks very nice but is a bit pricy. Has anyone any other recommendations? I know that we have to be careful what we say on here a...

Re: Mystery Engine Problem
Hi; For those of you that follow these things, I think it was dirt/sand in the carb. Took the top off the float chamber and it didn't seem too bad but there was evidence of the sandy type stuff you get in there. Tried to clean it out without removing the carb and I got the same symptoms as before. T...

Re: Mystery Engine Problem
Thanks for the replies guys. I didn't think of dirt in the fuel because I would have thought it would have resulted in 'kangeroo' symptoms but I will investigate further. Pretty sure the fuel pump is pk because I could hear it clicking away as normal. Any way looks like I will get have to check a bi...
