Re: Not starting but running problem
Thanks for the above thoughts. Stale fuel would explain the sudden deterioration in starting. As I don't have a large container, I have begun a slow business of 'teeming and ladling' to dilute the stale fuel with sufficient fresh petrol, in the hope that this cures the problem. I will report on the ...

Re: Not starting but running problem
The car was running nicely when I put it to bed around November/December last year and apart from moving it around the drive and garage, when it needed plenty of choke anyway, it seemed okay. However, with hindsight, it was already showing a little reluctance to start and run normally. I haven't alt...

Not starting but running problem
My 1969 Minor fires instantly, but doesn't catch. It will eventually catch with the choke fully out. I have just run it for 10 minutes, with exactly the same problem when attempting to restart. I assume that with the engine running comfortably for a while the pump must be OK. The car is fitted with ...

Rear lever arm suspension
When joining the drop arm to the damper should the taper fit be assembled dry, or greased. And am I correct in thinking the threaded bolt from the chassis is 5/16 Whitworth?
Thanks, Richard.
Thanks, Richard.

Clutch Master cylinder used with Toyota 5 speed box
Last week I had a new clutch slave cylinder fitted thanks to information received on this forum. I now need to have a clutch master cylinder fitted. Unfortunately I have no idea which unit was fitted for the conversion (done by the Morris Minor Centre). The slave cylinder was the standard A40/ midge...

Re: Hydraulic clutch
Hello. Thanks Philthehill. This ties in with a local enthusiast, who thinks it might have been a mini item. I'll get a photo and try to compare them.

Hydraulic clutch
Can anyone tell me which clutch slave cylinder was used by The Morris Minor Centre when fitting the Toyota 5 speed box conversion?
Thanks, Stoneporch.

Re: colour blind
My dad had been in the navy, but my dreams of being a Royal Navy Artificer (electrical)were scuppered when I was told in my teens that I was red/green colour blind. Other than getting a good friend very cross when trying to say complimentary things about the ongoing respray of his Rover P6, only to ...

Re: Cellulose paint
Thanks all for those considered responses. I started my painting this morning, without a mask at first but soon had to put on a mask and open the door. Fortunately I was only dealing with a small area and the operation has now been successfully completed (and the headache didn't last for long). Less...

Re: Garage Floor paint
I have been painting my garage floor piecemeal, as and when space has become available. I am using Floor Master paint and have prepared the concrete surface with Multipurpose PVA concrete sealer, diluted with water as per instructions on the container . When I temporarily ran out of PVA I used Stabi...

Re: 1275 performance
Hello Maurice, sorry for the long silence. I would be very interested in your 3.9 diff. I do,however, live a couple of hundred miles from you in South Yorkshire, so an inspection visit is not on the cards at the moment. Is this a diff that you have used and know to be in good condition? Could you gi...

Thanks for that Maurice. I don't suppose you still have the 3.9 diff?

Re: 1275 performance
Thanks all. I have,in fact, had a request on this forum for a 3.9 diff for several weeks, without any success to date. I have seen mention of people fitting a metro head- could this give me a bit of extra grunt for climbing very steep hills (like the Alps, which we climbed a few years ago)?

1275 performance
Advice welcomed, please, on the easiest way to increase power output from a 1275(marina) engine. Most years we do a two-week continental tour, and I would like a higher cruising speed for the inevitable motorway stretches. Any suggestions welcomed, bearing in mind that I have very little engineering...

ribbed gearbox
Two questions in one, really. I have started to strip the gearbox because of a rumble, which was only noticeable when in neutral. Any ideas what could be the cause of this, as nothing is obvious yet? Also, is there a correct/easy way to remove the two needle roller bearings, at either end of the lay...

Thanks all for replies.
I have found a specialist diff rebuilder near to me, so I suppose I'll just have to bite the bullet. At least this way I should get a diff which will last the lifetime of the car.
