Re: What do you guys think of this 1.8?
Good spot! I think it is the location of the photos that is making me a bit wary (plus the fact i know Edmonton and don't ever really want to go there again). For the amount of Morris' for sale there seems to be a lack of honest looking cars around here. I did see a nice 948 only a few miles down th...

Re: What do you guys think of this 1.8?
Already sold anyways
This is the next one on the list to look at. Something doesn't quite seem right to me (not that I can put my finger on it) but it is quite local so worth a look i guess

What do you guys think of this 1.8?
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C675008# Anyone know this car? We are currently looking for another Morris for my girlfriend. Ideally a good condition saloon for up to £5k (Which I thought would get an almost perfect car but the ones I have seen so far have been quite far from it) This one stuck ...

Re: 948cc with poor acceleration...
It all comes out of the one refinery........... If you think you have carbon in the chambers (running on..) - then run some water through the system - hot engine revving above idle - put the dizzy vacuum lead in to a jar of water and let the carb suck it in..... I have tried this before on my old H...

Windscreen Wipers Not Working
The windscreen wipers have packed up on the girlfriends Moggy, are there any good places to start to look? The fuses are all ok but it seems there is no voltage getting to the switch, i will check that tomorrow though as i cant remember the details. It has been a couple of weeks since i last looked ...

Re: How heavy is an engine?
I managed to fit the new engine to the morris by hand today, and it was bloddy heavy
I would guess around the 100kg mark if not slightly more, it is a stonking lump of iron!

Re: painting your car
Thanks very much :D I have been doing a lot of reading up and have the stuff ready, and have painted a few smaller bits in the past. I think the main problem is the fibreglass wings, and that they all have cracks in them to some extent so i will obviously have to take them all the way out and build ...

Re: Unleaded conversion - Hardened valves needed?
Looks very nice! However, I'd ditch the K&N-type air filter if the engine is otherwise standard. To avoid possible lean-running issues, you'll need to have the carb set up properly (most probably with a different needle). They also tend to be quite noisy, and doesn't have an inlet for the rocke...

Re: Unleaded conversion - Hardened valves needed?
Probably worth replacing the bypass hose with the solid type before you fit the engine in the car. The type you have fitted tend to be a bit fragile in service. Thanks i did think that but the hose i have fitted is a thick silicone one which i have had good success with in other cars as opposed the...

Re: Unleaded conversion - Hardened valves needed?
Sorry to be a pain with more questions but the hardened valves on ESM look different to the mini ones with the triple groove collets :x Here are the ones that i saw on ESM: http://morrisminorspares.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=1434&osCsid=31926aa9bde9c1e47dfcf0fa41aab088 Or they do a ...

Also when you refer to the collets, these are the type on the head at the moment, are these the right ones to use for the hardened valves?

Re: Unleaded conversion - Hardened valves needed?
Well the car did over 7,000 miles between the last 2 MOT's and is used to blast up and down the A1 twice a week so i believe it is necessary, plus the misses can't open the child caps on the fuel additives
I will get the new valves ordered up

Unleaded conversion - Hardened valves needed?
Hi everyone, I am currently rebuilding a 1098 engine for my girlfriends Morris and the head is currently away for hardened valve seats to be fitted. One thing i am wondering though is if the standard valves are ok or if i need hardened valves as well for a true unleaded conversion? Most sites only t...
