well will try a change of regulater first if i can pick up the right one at the right price,fitting an alternator cant be too hard,and no prob,s with water pump,my car doesnt have one .it only gets used fair weather but i do need it to be reliable

cold wet night time driving in my mm,no heater,i should coco,not a chance but on a couple of occasions its 60 year old regulater has stuck and drained battery completly then the dynamo wants to take a hundred miles to charge it up again.reckon alt,r is going to make me want to drive it again

meybe fit alternator to my mm sidevalve
so i guess this has been done by someone,i know we should try for origonality but i,m more for reliability.anyway if this is my winter project i would welcome any advice bareing in mind the sidevalve runs a heavier fanbelt. i can make up brackets to fit any alternator .do they charge in any directio...

well thanks for your advice folk. The engine was bored recently but we didn,t renew valve guides,guess I,ll go with the aditive as i only use the country lanes round our village thats assuming it doesn,t cost a bomb. Not a fast car are they, I get tractors flashing me road hogs ! Joe

hi sue,well I don,t think they fit well at best with the modern rubber.I used an adhesive on mine, believe stixall,black of course,wipe of excess with petrol then stick down with masking tape.works a treat. Sohow long did it take you to fit the screen ? did mine in about 2 days and 10 attempts...goo...

hi i,ve got a51 mm which is now ready for the road. Need some insurance but proving difficult as my own ins.co. won,t touch it and it,s too old for Footman James.was the 51 MM such a wild beast for a pensioner to drive. It will be very limited miles..Anyone got any ideas Am in Tillingham,ESSEX

hi thanks for all the interest and info Well my car is an export model,baught new in malta for£497 and yes it did have a rear window chrome but new rubber wasn,t cut to facilitate fitting the chcome still hangs on garage wall. hi folk thanks for all your interest unfortunatly i surrendered the car to the scrap man some years ago but kept id and plateswhen moving premises.It seems now i have lost the plates too and was hoping to retain reg.no. Oh well,best laid plans etc thanks again for your interest Joe
