Re: Purists look away now

It seems to me that if you were to use seam sealer rather than that awful rubber/plastic strip between the guards and the body you would avoid water getting into the joint and end up with a nicer finish of the join. That is what I'm planning to do along with sealing the headlight buckets the same wa...

Re: Our two door 1957

http://morris1960tudor.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/100_3266.jpg?w=584&h=438 The most significant thing that I have done over the last few days is to make the gearbox mount. I agonised over the design of this for a long time and in the end I decided to utilise the original Morris mount rubbers o...

Re: Making a tail light lens copy

Looks nice but wouldn't you be better off using some of the silicone moulding stuff ? Gives a better finish and has enough flexibility to facilitate easy removal once the epoxy is set especially if you do it properly and make a two piece mould. that said making some clear lenses for the earlier tail...

Re: Our two door 1957

Ok Guys I have made some progress fitting the engine and working out how to fabricate the engine mounts. In the first instance I discovered that the Barina has a different spline on its gearbox shaft so that I will need to get a sierra clutch plate for the purposes of working out the engine mounts I...

Re: Our two door 1957

No Marky I haven't done that yet but I should get a chance to do that later today when I pull it out of the engine bay its bloody light though because my lifting gear consists of two double pulley blocks and some rope which lifted it with ease. I'm off on a two hour drive to my brother's farm to col...

Re: Our two door 1957

Yeah Marky I had thought of that, and I may well have to get the sump and pick up from a Samurai (which is upright because the gearbox won't want to be tilted, when it comes down to it I may be a good way to go to get a Samurai inlet manifold as well. Still I think that the Suzuki engine will do ver...

Re: Our two door 1957

After a couple of days of steady graft the engine is out of the Barina and now sitting in the Morris engine bay and as the photos below show it seems that it will fit pretty well. The engine was originally sitting at about a 20 degree angle and I have it perfectly upright so I may have to make an ad...

Re: Our two door 1957

I am delighted to report that the $50 Barina (Suzuki swift clone) actually runs and more importantly it runs well despite having been a cubby house for some children for the last couple of years. The interior is crap the brakes don’t work at all the Radiator leaks but after some argy bargy I managed...

Re: how do you remove the knobs from pull switches?

Charley I owned a Norton ES2 that would never keep its battery charged for all of the thirty years it was in my possession, I also had a Landrover that was afflicted by Lucas electrics and I was forever adjusting the points to keep it going. The problem is not teh switches but the fact that they are...

Re: how do you remove the knobs from pull switches?

Thanks for the advice managed to remove the headlight switch without drama but the release pin on the wiper switch turned out to be rather rusty and it refused to release so I ended up having to destroy the Bakelite knob :( not too concerned though as I don't think that I will be using the original ...

how do you remove the knobs from pull switches?

As I say in the title how on earth do you remove the knobs from the pull switches on a Morris 1000 circa i958? I can see a little metal button on one side of the switch but it has no slot for a screwdriver and does not seem to move when pressed, I know that there is probably some cute trick to it bu...

I am a Pommy myself, although I've been down under for most of my life so I do have some idea what I'm talking about here but from your signature I guess that you are no ordinary Pommy though :D
