In answer to Mike's question, the alternator conversion was done without the control box.

I just been reading some of the other electrical posts and the answer to Q2 for the ring terminal could be the solenoid unit +ve terminal, as they may come from the Altenator? Will need to con them out first, or I could be barking up the wrong tree?

I have just re-wired my daughters 1965 traveller. The original car had a dynamo, but this was converted to an alternator about a year ago by Charles Ware in Bristol.
