If you haven't welded before I would strongly advise you to practice welding some pieces of scrap steel first. This will allow you to develop your welding technique and ensure your welds are strong. I've been sent a few photos of the head - sadly it looks as though part of the face has been sat in water or damp and has some corrosion.
It will need a skim but I'm not sure a skim will get the corrosion out.
Otherwise it looks OK.
