1275 gearbox from an mg midget

Post by mu0u207b »

Hi there. My present 1098 gearbox is on its last legs and im surfing ebay at present for a bargain replacement. Would it be better to slightly up grade to the midget box which ive heard is slightly stronger than the 1098 minor and would the fitting of the box be a straight forward swop with the present or are modifications required?

Not a huge problem if it does have one (I don't know the g'box) and it may be possible to replace it with the standard arrangement too.

It is possible to replace the hydralic clutch with the standard arangment and vice versa... other than that its a straight swap. Another advantage of the 1275 boxes is that many have the provision for a reversing light switch (although the switches themselves are virtually unobtainable new)
