coil over shock problems.
I've decided to fit the coil over shock conversion to the front of my van due to the extra weight up front, could really do with some help on this one though. All the brackets are fitted according to the instructions but when fitting the shock, the actual spring fouls on the upper trunnion very badly. This can't be right can it??? any help apreciated.
cheers, Daniel

No it is not a failure to contact the trunnion on full drop, or should I say that we have never had one of our kits failed. There is no problem with the slight touch of the trunnion as you should never be able to replicate this position on the road, unless your flying ,then its the least of your problems!!!

Hi all,
Thanks for your responses. The contact is on full drop, I can see it should be clear when I get everything back on the car weighing it down but was just worried by the amount it does press on the trunnions now even with the engine and box fitted. I didn't realise they all did this.
It's the kit from the Minor centre Bath so assume it's an Owen Burton kit?
Cheers.

Robins,
Are the coil-overs contacting the trunnions whe just at laden weight, if they are then something is definately wrong. Normally they only touch, and thats touch,( not stop the movement of the leg). when the car is jacked up to fully and the wheel clear of the floor.
I dunno, you boy racers, getting air!!

You're lucky... My landing didn't do wonders for the crossmember the tower mounts bolted toCam wrote: Me too! A humpback bridge in Market Drayton. I broke a spat off one of the wheel arches on my Mini as my wheels were not perfectly straight when I landed.

Took a few days to work out why the subframe seemed to move so much when turning the wheel at standstill...

Hi Jonathon
I haven't actually fitted the shocks fully yet as I saw it will be in contact and got worried. Basically my van is just a bare rolling shell with just engine and box fitted at moment so still got all the panels to go on, so the suspension is essentially on full drop as there is not enough weight to hold it down off the stops yet. I can see it would be as you describe when I get everything back on the van. I'm a few weeks off having it all put back together so will let you all know how it goes. Thanks for all your help guys.
cheers.
