Front Splitscreen Rubber Insert

Hello,

Since 2012 I own a 1952 LHD Convertible from California (it never rains there) with the crome insert missing in the front rubber seal.
From your forum I learnt it is not advised to take out the screens to change to the newer bowed screen rubber with insert I bought 10 years ago from Charles Ware when the original crome insert was already not available. But going to start a longer tour to Danmark and Sweden this summer I want to make it rainproof (currently heavy rain runs through the electricity in the dashboard and is then distributed by the heaters ventilator on the passengers knees).
My idea is to press a wire, rope or tube in the center slot outside the rubber to spread it up against the frame, but I don't know whether round profile is fitting inside the slot or what profile would work.
Can anybody help me with advice?

Hi,
If the rubber screen seal is old, or even original, you may find it has hardened over time and is no longer supple enough for your idea to have any effect.
You may be better off fitting a new one from the likes of ESM.

Splitscreen chrome inserts are like Hen's teeth.......
Though I believe some on here have made the plastic chrome insert for later screens fit?
