Traveller rear base rail

I have new timber ready to fit but can't find the base rail. I have Iroko strip would from a yacht project of dimensions that would suit. Is this timber visible from outside the car? As the rail has to it into the rear posts I guess the side frames have to be fitted onto the end joints of the rail?
The car came to me with the rear removed so I am having to work out what goes where as I proceed, trial fitting bits as I go!

I am in the position of fitting my base rail the top piece is ash which you can see it is rebated along its length for the doors on mine the bottom piece was missing so I just made a length out of treated softwood and painted it black .

Thanks, I couldnt see the rebate on any diagrams or pics. I will look out for a friendly traveller owner and have a looksee!

When you say "rear base rail", to which piece are you referring? I initially thought that you meant the "ladder rack" by the boot floor. This is covered by a painted metal panel; but then you wrote about fitting with the side frames and propshaft wrote about the rebate for the boors. Sorry, but I am confused. You say that you have the diagrams, could you use one of those to clarify the piece to which you are ferrring?

Thanks for the response !! 'Ladder rack' is a good description !! I have no diagrams except what I can see on ESM and other sites, I guess it has some structural value by stiffening across the rear posts at their base? As you say it will be covered by the steel section which I believe is called the rear valence on the traveller. I do still wonder how this will be screwed into the frame sides as the inner arches will prevent screwing once the sides are in place ( I understand that in the factory the whole rear including roof was built and then fitted, perhaps after trial fitting of the bits I could follow this route and thus be able to fix the roof corner brackets properly)
I have been studying photos of travellers 'rear ends' ! and can see that there is an ash bar across the back above the 'Ladder rack' and guess this is the one which the doors close onto, ( I can see the cut out where the door bolt fits into) My brain has had a flash back informing me that there is, in the various bits delivered, an ash bar with the cut out for the door bolt in the middle and I just need to track it down! even if the ends are gone I can use it as a model.
So, again many thanks to all for the responses. I understand that I can use my Iroko or even some douglas fir for the bottom ladder ( it would be good to know the length of this between posts and to understand how to screw the ladder into the posts) Just have to find that bit of ash !!

Marvellous thank you. I found the old part from the scrap rear woodwork. it had been repaired at each end and was still rotten! I also found my IROKO plank which is just thick enough to remake the top part. It would be great if I could confirm the measurement between the insides of the 2 rear posts, I guess it has to be the two rear doors plus a few mms for gaps ! ?

Thanks to everyone we are progressing. I found a cross member that the previous owner had started to make, I got the correct measurements and made the end joints, I temporally fitted it ( need to make the bottom rails and the blocks to hold them together).
