1955 Morris Minor 1000 4-Door Split Screen – Black

Post by swiz »

This car belonged to my late father, he bought it in 2019 with the intention of using it as a daily run-around. Sadly due to deteriorating health, he was only able to drive it a handful of miles. Since then it has sat in a lockup garage, and is now looking for a new owner.

Dad had quite a bit of work done when he bought the car, including:
  • Engine partial rebuild:
    • Cylinder head refurbished
    • Big end bearings
    • Main bearings
    • Thrust bearings
    • Rear end crank seal conversion
    • Gaskets and seals
  • Waterless coolant system
    • Water pump update
    • New radiator
  • Conversion to unleaded petrol
  • Rear end gearbox oil seal & new oil
  • Rear axle pinion seal & new oil
  • Alternator conversion
  • Electronic ignition, leads, plugs
  • Temperature gauge kit
  • Indicators added from 1965 model (original trafficators still in place)
  • General service and cleaning, including undersealing
And the previous owner had done:
  • Disc brake conversion
  • Front seats re-covered
I have paperwork / invoices for all of the above, there may have been more done which wasn't recorded, I'm not sure.

The speedo was replaced in 2011, the old one had 53k miles and the replacement had 34k. Current mileage on the new speedo is 38,689 so approximately 57k total miles on the engine as far as I can tell.

The car starts and runs smoothly, all tyres are in good condition with plenty of tread, and it's ready to drive away. Has 2 keys (unsure if original or not). V5C shows 6 former keepers. No MOT at the moment as it's not been used, happy to put it through the test before sale for your peace of mind.

Currently in dry storage in Shipdham, Norfolk.

Looking for £6,000.

Thanks for reading - PM me if interested :)
