Engine rebuild!

Post by laneychief »

Hi all!

So it has been years since I’ve posted.

Sadly my morris had to go to the scrapyard in the sky as most of you know.

I have a 1098 engine I dismantled some years back, inside engines is not my thing.

My now 8 year old son and I have started rebuilding it in our shed! It’s a lovely project to share with him and he is adoring it and is a very mechanically and engineering minded lad.

Any help welcomed!

He does want to bench test it when we are done but I told him we are missing a lot of bits (carb, dizzy, starter etc) so I may be hounding some of you lot for any cheap spares you may want to donate for a reasonable price for my lad to play with!

Happy to be back, hope you’re all well!

Edd and Logan!

I did similar with my lad years ago, a Triumph 1300 engine. Welded up a cradle mount with radiator etc.
Short length of exhaust directed out the garage door. We both thoroughly enjoyed it! and it gets brought up in conversation still.

That YouTube video is amazing. It should win some sort of award.
You don't get that on Britains Got Talent.
Thanks to your son, and you for sharing it.

He made it a few years ago, it took a while. I don't think my garage has quite got over it!

So we’ve been making steps!

Next question is I don’t suppose anyone has a spare set of standard piston rings?? One of them was seized and dead when trying to take off and seeing as this is an education engine rather than a runner I don’t fancy buying a whole set of new ones!!!

Hope all of you are well!
