Good Morning
Has anyone heard of Cover plates that run beneath the drivers floor to support the cars having been converted to a soft top
These panels are 4 inch wide and about an inch deep

Sounds complete nonsense to me.
If a saloon is converted to a convertible using a proper kit, the few extra strengthening parts are included but none are attached beneath the floor
You did used to be able to purchase cover up panels which hung down beneath the floor in order to cover up the rusty undersills and pass the MOT but that is an entirely different issue. They were just a horrible bodge which added nothing to the strength of a car
