Water temperature switch

Hi,anyone got any idea of where I can obtain a temperature warning switch for my 1968 moggy. I am assuming most A series engine parts will fit. Any part numbers or sellers would be great,thanks all.

Most people fit a temperature gauge although if you have a convertible like me there is hardly any room under the dash to fit one due to the strengthening arches so I can see why a light might be desirable instead. Are you saying you want a warning lamp that will light up at a certain water temperature? I am not sure how that would be done or what temperature the warning light should come on at. The 1098cc engine has a blanked off port in the cylinder head where a temperature sender can be fitted easily but the 948cc does not have this. I am not sure what engine you have. It would not be difficult to do for anybody with a knowledge of electronics. You could even have an LED light that changes colour according to the water temperature, green, amber, red, red flashing or something like that.

The Morris Minor A-series engines are not known for being prone to overheating providing the cooling system is not silted up. Quite the opposite actually. The engine is rather over-cooled with a big radiator and a constantly operating fan. If you do overheat, the first thing you will know is the pressure relief valve operates in the radiator cap and clouds of steam........

Sorry meant to add the car is a 1098 with a blanked off plug in the cylinder head. The idea being is the car had the wiring for a oil filter warning lamp( which is not connected to the filter and had no signs of fitments) and was going to use the wire to the temperature sender instead,so in case of over heating the lamp will illuminated.

It will be much easier to fit a coolant temp gauge than try and improvise what you want.
If you want the light to illuminate when the engine is overheated it will be too late. With a gauge you will know what the temp is and can observe it rising and stop the engine before the engine gets damaged.

Capillary gauge easy to fit if your head has the removable blank plug. No electrical needed unless you wish to illuminate the gauge.

Bill how did you fit that hazard switch? I couldn't work out how to fit it due to the lip under the dashboard. Don't all Minors have that lip? Also my picture shows why additional instruments under the dashboard are problematic in a convertible.

It's bolted through the flat in front of the lip, as is the gauge panel, if your unit is longer and fouls the lip you could fit spacers on the bolts so it clears.
I don't know if the lip is different, mine is 1962 4 door with glove box lids on both sides.
