Re: Fuel pump woes

Post by philthehill »

Never had any problems with the mechanical fuel pumps fitted to the several A35s I have owned, the Triumph Spitfire, the Triumph estate, the Ford Cortina, Series Landrovers etc, etc.
I suspect that if Minors were being produced today they would be fitted with mechanical fuel pumps and if I had a road going Minor now I would not hesitate to fit a mechanical fuel pump. :D
Fit a ethanol resistant service kit to the mechanical fuel pump and it will give many years of trouble free service.
If you do fit a mechanical fuel pump - remember to fit the spacer block between the pump and block.
Get a mechanical fuel pump with the priming lever if you can - not that you will ever use it.
